Grit, Grease, & Thunder of Liberation

Before it was chrome and coffee shop flexing, it was grit, grease, and the thunder of liberation.

The 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA, nicknamed the "Liberator," was built to go wherever tyranny needed a swift kick in the teeth. Shipped by the tens of thousands to American troops during World War II, the Liberator rode into war zones with a one mission: get the job done and bring the boys home. From the fields of France to the jungles of the Pacific, this two-wheeled warhorse became a symbol of freedom in motion.

This is our tribute to that machine and the American spirit welded onto its frame. It captures that moment in time when the rumble of a Harley engine meant reinforcements had arrived, and hope came with two wheels and a set of dog tags. You knew freedom was coming because you heard it first.

But the story didn’t stop in 1945. That same liberator spirit still rides today in every Harley across the country. When you throw a leg over a bike and twist the throttle, you’re straddling a legacy. You’re channeling the same unstoppable American drive that built the machine, fought the fight, and kept rolling long after the dust settled.

We're forever grateful for those who rolled through hell and back on this steel warhorse, and regard the Liberator as a reminder that freedom is something we live, mile after mile.
