Every March, somebody throws on a green shirt, raises a plastic cup, and starts yelling, “Kiss me, I’m Irish!” It’s tradition. It’s fun. It’s usually followed by bad decisions and worse karaoke.

But let’s be honest. Not everyone who says it understands what it actually means to carry Irish blood or Irish attitude.

The Irish built their reputation the hard way. They fought for their place in America. They stood their ground in neighborhoods, in factories, in police departments, and on battlefields. The “Fighting Irish” nickname was earned decade after decade. And they never backed down.

Confidence is attractive, but respect is mandatory. You want a kiss? Better come correct. Because if you’re not the right kind of person, you might meet something a little less romantic.
