You were there.
You saw it.
You experienced it
You survived it.
And you still do every day.

For that, we are sorry.
But we're also eternally grateful to you.

Everyone: Your government, society, the media, and even some of your family, made you a pariah when you came home. You became an outcast

For that, we're sorry.
But we are eternally grateful for your sacrifice.

Because of you, the brave men, fathers and uncles, and grandfathers, showed the following generations what courage looks like, even when if you weren't appreciated.

Because of you, we saw our service in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a handful of other skirmishes, as a tribute to your legacy.

Because of you, America understood its failure to support our brave troops and we benefitted from that when we served decades later.

We are sorry for all you endured in the name of freedom, democracy, and patriotism, but we will forever look up to your courage and sacrifice, and...
