A Marine’s Marine, Lt. Gen. Lewis "Chesty" Puller was a genuine badass leatherneck with the scars to prove it. But Chesty had one soft spot: his fierce loyalty and care for his men. Chesty served thirty-seven years in the United States Marine Corps, both officer and enlisted, is the most-decorated Marine in history, and the only Marine to receive five Navy Crosses.

Chesty quickly earned the reputation of not playing stupid games (if you know, you know) or political maneuvering. Although he led Marines in some of the bloodiest battles, his straight-forward attitude, while serving him well in combat and earning respect from his men, may have caused him to be passed over for receiving the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest award for bravery.
