USMC Sniper Carlos Hathcock was one of the most skilled and deadly marksmen in American military history. Serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, Hathcock racked up an incredible 93 confirmed kills. Making him a legend among his fellow Marines and a feared opponent of the Viet Cong.

But Hathcock was more than just a sniper. He was a leader. A mentor. A role model to all who served with him. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his country, his incredible bravery under fire, and his unshakable commitment to his fellow Marines.

Despite facing countless dangers and challenges during his time in Vietnam, Hathcock remained focused on his mission and his duty to his country. He never wavered in his resolve, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. His time as a sniper came to a sudden end when his AMTRAC was hit by a mine. Hathcock pulled seven Marines from the flame-engulfed vehicle, suffering severe burns (some third-degree) to his face, arms, and legs, before someone pulled him away and placed him in water because he was unaware of how badly he had been burned.

While recovering, Hathcock received the Purple Heart. Nearly 30 years later, he received a Silver Star for this action.
