But year after year, they're sent into battles they're woefully underfunded and unprepared to fight. Why? Because California’s government has prioritized social experiments and DEI hiring policies over critical needs like properly staffing and equipping fire departments. The result? The devastating fire that ravaged the Los Angeles region recently and the countless number of "summer fires" across the state, with fire crews left to confront the flames with fewer resources and less support than they deserve.

Not A New Problem
This most recent fire isn’t just an LA problem—it’s a California problem. Year after year, the state burns, not because of some singular act of nature, but because of improper wilderness management, lack of personnel, and a systemic failure to prioritize readiness. And when confronted with these shortcomings, the government shifts the blame, pointing to climate change as the easy scapegoat. Meanwhile, leaders like Los Angeles Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Kristine Larson go so far as to suggest that residents in need of rescue bear responsibility for being in the "wrong place."

California’s fires are fueled by neglect, ineptitude, and a broken system that fails its citizens and its firefighters alike.
